May 21, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Poets Creating Conversation asks poets to explore difficult issues wrapped around the history of America and reflected in the current discourse.

Poets Creating Conversation:  Incarceration in America

“[P]risons do not disappear problems, they disappear human beings. And the practice of disappearing vast numbers of people from poor, immigrant, and racially marginalized communities has literally become big business.” – Angela Davis

The poet’s challenge: In the US, there are nearly 7 million persons under correctional supervision. Multiply that by friends and family and there’s a lot to talk about. During the month of May, The Whit will host an exhibit of art created by incarcerated persons offering a powerful physical context for this event!

All WXW programs are free and open to all. WordXWord Festival, Inc is a 501(C)(3).
