The civil rights of the transgender community have been affirmed\, including here in Massachusetts\, but the backlash continues. What’s going on? What does the LGBTQIA+ acronym stand for? All those letters! What do terms such as gender identity and gender expression mean? And what’s the big deal about bathrooms? \nYou may think you understand all of this\, but honestly\, there’s a lot to sort through\, reframe and learn…frankly\, this 101 is for EVERYONE. DESCRIPTION:Dear Greylock Together Friends\, \nOur first canvassing opportunity to help Antonio Delgado (yay!) oust John Faso (boo!) starts in the parking lot at the bottom of Williamstown’s Spring Street at 10:00 am this coming Sunday\, July 15. From there we’ll caravan to our Hoosick Falls “muster point” (Iron Horse Coffee\, unless our crowd gets large\, in which case we’ll move to BYTE pizza) in plenty of time for our 11:00 start. \nNY 19 Votes Dustin Reidy will take us through a (short! simple!) training session\, then set us loose to knock on doors for an hour or so. This is an easy\, “try-it-out” exercise: we’ll be talking only to Democrats about voting blue in November and helping get our candidate’s literature into their hands. And the practice of disappearing vast numbers of people from poor\, immigrant\, and racially marginalized communities has literally become big business.” – Angela Davis \nThe poet’s challenge: In the US\, there are nearly 7 million persons under correctional supervision. Multiply that by friends and family and there’s a lot to talk about. During the month of May\, The Whit will host an exhibit of art created by incarcerated persons offering a powerful physical context for this event! \nAll WXW programs are free and open to all. Beyond that date\, you can book the room as you would normally.\nWho: Nearly 100 Indivisible Group Leaders from Maine\, New Hampshire\, Vermont\, Massachusetts\, Connecticut\, and Rhode Island.\nWhy: To meet fellow Indivisible leaders and national staff\, learn and workshop new organizing skills\, make collaborative action plans for 2018\, and spend a fun weekend with your extended Indivisible family! Here is a sample agenda from our most recent institute in Houston. (Note: You should plan to attend for both days as the content builds upon itself over time. If you cannot\, please let me know).\nHow much: The training is entirely free\, and includes a catered breakfast and lunch.
