SUMMARY:Stand Out Against Gun Violence
DESCRIPTION:Come and protest with us at the roundabout in Williamstown against gun violence. Join us from 5:00 to 6:30 — whenever you can get there. Bring your friends\, bring your signs\, bring your voices. Bring it all. \n— \nOn Sunday night\, a gunman opened fire on a concert crowd in Las Vegas. He murdered at least 58 people and injured more than 500 others\, making the attack the deadliest mass shooting in American history. The victims join the voiceless thousands who have been the victims of gun violence this year. 46\,597 shootings in 2017. 11\,652 deaths. 545 injured or killed children. \nIt has to stop. \nIt is a simple and brutal fact that the easy availability of guns to everyone makes it more likely that someone who is disturbed or fanatical will be able to get a gun. More stringent gun conrol may not have been able to prevent any particular shooting\, includng the Vegas massacre\, but it would make them all less likely… and might help change a culture that blithely accepts dead children as the cost of a hobby. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/131074310971075

SUMMARY:Stanza & Resist: Community Poetry Reading
DESCRIPTION:A community poetry reading held monthly. Navigating the stressful confines of a dark political landscape can take a heavy toll on the spirit. It is during these dire times that the creative arts play a very important role\, not only in fighting back but also in how we are able to mediate the impact it has on our souls. At Stanza & Resist our goal is to provide a space where you can speak your mnind and soothe you’re weary bones\, whether that be through joyful empowerment or rousing expressions of resistance. You do not have to be a poet or writer to participate! All that is required is that you have the passion to speak your mind. Creativity is a valuable tool and a process by which one can meditate on the trials and triumphs of the world. This monthly poetry reading is a communal gathering and creative space and therefore is not hosted by any specific organization. Local groups are welcome to make flyers and info available at during readings to be taken by attendees. All are welcome! \nFacebook event

SUMMARY:Meet Your 1st-Berkshire Candidates
DESCRIPTION:Activist group Greylock Together has invited the candidates for the vacant 1st-Berkshire seat in the Massachusetts House to come and speak about their candidacy. Everyone is invited to join us and hear each candidate make a brief pitch about how they would be the best to serve. As of right now\, we will hear from three of the declared candidates: Lisa Blackmer\, Stephanie Bosley\, and Kevin Towle. \nYou can come prepared! Over the course of the past couple of months\, Greylock Together has assembled a list of goals we wish to achieve on the local\, state\, and national level. Each goal is supported by a supermajority of our members. While some are not immediately actionable for a state representative\, we still think it’s important that our representative shares our goals and values. We have sent out a survey based on these goals to each candidate. Their responses are here: http://www.greylocktogether.org/survey-answers-1st-berkshire/ \nFacebook Event
